RII SATELLITE FIRE STATION – MANCHESTER AIRPORT

CONTRACT SUM £1.6m

The building was designed in competition and formed part of the runway II works at Manchester Airport. The building has an industrial aesthetic which assisted delivery within a tight budget. The accommodation and tender bays sit over a concrete plinth containing the plant and service connections to the main airport. The mixture of cladding types , sinusoidal and bi-modular flat panels and the detailing and proportions provides visual interest and contrasts. Large window apertures provide good visibility towards the airfield and break the form and bulk of the building.
